Camp Sunshine’s annual Pumpkin Festival has been a fall tradition since 2003. While the festival has been hosted at various iconic locations throughout the Northeast over the years, including the Boston Common, the event has been hosted at L.L.Bean’s Flagship Campus in Freeport, Maine since 2013.

L.L.Bean supports Camp Sunshine’s mission in various ways, including hosting the annual Pumpkin Festival and being the lead sponsor of the event. Over the years, the Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival has continued to be a community favorite, as it is not only a unique fundraiser, but also a free community event for all ages.
As a result of the continued success of the Camp Sunshine Pumpkin festival, in 2017, L.L.Bean asked Camp Sunshine to produce a summer event, and with that request, the Camp Sunshine Watermelon Festival was established. The Watermelon Festival follows a similar format to the Pumpkin Festival and is a free community event that raises money through donations and event sponsorships.

Over the years, Camp Sunshine’s partnership with L.L.Bean has continued to grow and now includes financial support for special events, use of their campus to host community events, employee volunteer participation and annual visits from the L.L.Bean “Bootmobile” at least once a year during a Camp session.
