Navy SEALs Help Send Military Families to Camp Sunshine
On July 5, 2016, three active-duty Navy SEALs and one United States Coast guardsman completed a circumnavigation of Sebago Lake to raise money to send military families to Camp Sunshine. The course was mapped out differently than most quadrathons and was designed to mirror the challenges Camp Sunshine families face after their child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. When all was said and done, the team covered more than 40 miles and included biking elements, more than 10 miles of running, nearly 3 miles of swimming and finished with a 4-mile kayak. Camp Sunshine gets countless requests annually by individuals who are looking to go the extra mile to support our families. For this reason, we have proposed a challenge for those who are interested in raising money to send families to Camp in 2016! We invite all Camp Sunshine supporters to strive to raise $2,500 (enough to sponsor one family) during 2016. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to sponsor 40 families or an entire new session in 2017! Sending a family to Camp Sunshine, at a cost of $2,500 is truly one of the greatest gifts you can give. With your help, many more children and their families can have a week away from illness.
