An Event to Support NY Families Who Have Lost a Child to Terminal Illness

 Camp Sunshine, located on the beautiful Sebago Lake in Maine, is the only program in the nation whose mission is to address the impact of a life threatening illness on the entire family - the ill child, parents, and siblings.  Camp Sunshine has provided a haven for over 30,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds and relies on donations to provide services such as lodging, meals, entertainment, indoor and outdoor recreation, psychosocial programs, and 24 hour on-site medical staff free-of-charge to families.

Bereavement Sessions – A Special Cause

Camp Sunshine works by creating disease-specific sessions where families attend week-long sessions for kids facing cancer and other life threatening diseases.  A special session that occurs each November is the Bereavement session. This powerful session brings families together that have lost a child to illness. A typical Bereavement session will have over 40 families in attendance and kids and parents alike form life-long relationships.

Send a Bereaved NY Family to Camp Sunshine

In the past, KPMG has supported Camp Sunshine via the Chairman’s Award program. This year, the NYO Action Council is continuing this commitment by sponsoring a family from NY who has lost a child so that they can attend the Bereavement session occurring November 11 – 14th.  Action Council members will also be volunteering at the session and will present our donation in person and meet the family. KPMG will also receive thank you cards from the children.

Sponsoring a family only costs $1,500! To help raise funds, the Action Council is hosting a Camp Sunshine Fundraiser on Wednesday, October 6. Join your colleagues and NYO leadership in support of this important cause and enjoy a fun evening with appetizers, beverages and great raffle prizes!

Tickets are $30.00 payable by cash or check (made out to KPMG LLP). Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting David Ciriello. Donations will also be accepted at the door.
