Hey!
I'm participating in Camp Sunshine's Family Sponsorship! Please help me out and donate towards a great cause!

The DataStar Campaign

My Info:

Camp Sunshine, on Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine is a retreat for children with life threatening illnesses and their families.  It is a rare blend of care for the affected children, support for their parents and special attention to their siblings. Parents and kids alike have the opportunity to share this experience with others facing similar issues.  The impact Camp Sunshine has on the lives of the families, volunteers and others it touches is incredible; it can change your entire perspective on life.

DataStar's involvement with Camp Sunshine began in 2004 when principal Glenn Davis and his family volunteered during one of the weeklong sessions at Camp.  At the end of that year, DataStar made a holiday donation to sponsor a family to attend. Since then, the Davis family has returned at least once per year to volunteer and has spread the word and encouraged friends, associates and employees to contribute their time and/or financial support. In 2008, Cynthia Biagini, one of our senior project directors, began volunteering with her daughter and returned again in 2009 (Glenn and Cynthia are pictured in the photo above).  Volunteers devote 5-6 days of their time as camp counselors, recreational or arts & crafts leaders, one-on-one aides or food service personnel.  Volunteering at Camp Sunshine is such an uplifting and inspiring experience that few are able to resist a return visit.  Other DataStar staff are planning to volunteer with their families in the near future.

Because of the generosity of its supporters, the program is free to all participating families.  The cost to provide an ill child and his or her family with the experience of a lifetime is just $1,500.  The Family Sponsorship includes five nights and six days of lodging, meals, entertainment, indoor and outdoor recreation, psychosocial programs, and 24 hour on-site medical support.

With your help, we hope to raise enough to sponsor at least two families.  We would greatly appreciate your support to encourage your company/employer to contribute to Camp Sunshine, and/or please consider making a personal contribution to this campaign.  You may be interested to know that Camp Sunshine has earned Charity Navigator's top rating for the fifth consecutive year, a rare honor among charitable organizations.  Anyone interested in volunteering can go to the camp's website directly for more information or to download an application.

Thank you for your support!
