This has been my first year as a Camp Sunshine volunteer, but I have volunteered for four weeks total. My first week volunteering, I learned quickly how much the camp experience means not only to the sick child, but to their siblings and their parents as well. The diagnosis of a terminal illness affects the entire family, and Camp Sunshine serves as a week-long ecape from these difficulties. It provides parents and children with the opportunity to bond with those fighting the same battle. It truly is an amazing place for families and volunteers alike. Any and every contribution helps to bring one more deserving family to camp.
